Estée Lauder’s flagship foundation, Double Wear Stay-in-Place Makeup, offers an extensive range of over 60-70 shades designed for all skin tones and undertones, providing a long-wear, matte, and buildable medium-to-full coverage. Shades are categorized by intensity (0-9) and undertone: Cool (C – pink/blue), Neutral (N – mix), and Warm (W – golden/yellow).
Estée Lauder Foundation Shade System
The shade names are easy to decode once you understand the formula: Intensity Level + Undertone + Depth.
- Intensity Level (0-9): The first number indicates how light or deep the shade is. 0 is the lightest, 9 is the deepest.
- Undertone (C/N/W): The letter indicates your skin’s undertone.
- C (Cool): Bare skin is rosy, pink, and burns easily (blue/purple veins).
- W (Warm): Bare skin has a golden/olive tone and tans easily (green veins).
- N (Neutral): Bare skin is even, not strictly pink or golden.
- Depth (1-4): The last number indicates the depth within that range.
